Installing Sisal 4U

So you went and bought some sisal flooring, good for you! Now you need it fitting to the floor. If the vendor offers installation, take my advice let them install it for you. It will be around for a long time and if you are to gain the most from it in appearance and value you really need someone who is familiar with this product.

Why? Because unlike fitting traditional woven floor covers, such as carpet, which are relatively stable, natural fibres can react to the various ambient conditions either individually or cumulatively and this can result in them becoming dimensionally unstable. Put simply, they react to changes in temperature & humidity.

The way this type of cover is fitted varies according to the climate where it is installed, the building ,the time of year, how it is to be employed, and of course the people who will be using it when fitted.

So, you see there is no single defined way to fit them. That is why your local expert is so vital to a successful installation. One method does not suit all. The experienced installer will have worked out the most successful way to fit the is product in his locality.

For example in the UK we usually install on underlay, in Europe they stick straight to the sub floor. As a matter of fact most of the world sticks it straight to the sub floor but varies the method for doing this to suit local climatic conditions, temperature and humidity being the most critical factors.
